The plan
Extrude an existing closet (2x4 feet) to create a (6x4 feet) sound proof work booth to cancel out the NYC noise. The booth has 3 inch thick walls with insulation all around including the door. This combined with recycled rubber mats reduces the amount of sound that can come through. I also prevented vibrations to come through by placing the beams on rubber fittings wherever the frames touch the wall or floor. The walls inside, including the ceiling, are built at an angle to prevent sound from inside the booth to bounce between walls. I brought in fresh air through the bottom and a silent fan to draw hot air out of the top.
To reduce waste, I used the original door as one of the walls and used all beams in the structure that were used to hold up the shelves inside the closet.
I created this 3D render in Cinema 4D to give me the measurements and see if the proportions would work.
